Living on a peninsula brings people together in a geographical sense, but what makes a strong community? In psychology terms; the quality of a community correlates to the degree of engagement and happiness individuals can draw from their interactions.
There’s no better place to experience this sense than at The Beaches Market, Fridays from 8am – 1pm, Pittwater Rugby Park Warriewood. Founded in 2011 by Lindsay Frazer and Phil Taylor, the Beaches Market soon became a vibrant shopping destination, but more than that a darn special meeting place for Northern Beaches locals.
What you notice immediately is the high quality of the produce and goods, most frequently made or grown by the stall holders themselves. First stop is Mrs Toddy’s Tonic who comments that the people of Avalon and the Northern Beaches have supported her from the onset. “From the early days two years ago when I set up my business in my own kitchen, I could not have grown without knowing the community has my back.” Today Sophie has added four types of plant-based tonics to her first Jamu Tonic, The Ubud. Take a shot morning or night for a wealth of anti-inflammatory and health benefits.
While watching lunch being mindfully prepared, Natasha from Burbury Wholefoods mentioned, “what makes a community is commitment to honouring and supporting each other’s journey, no matter where each person is on their path”. Feeling blessed to be a part of the Beaches community she’s found her purpose to heal through harnessing the benefits of organic and seasonal plant-based produce. Do your body and mind a favour and order the “Nourish Bowl” from Tash or Tom.
Drop by S&K Second Breakfast for small batch Muesli, Porridge and bake-at-home options for healthier snacking. By adding only butter and honey to a variety of wholegrains and dried fruit, my kids took the most delicious muesli bars to school this week with no refined sugar, no additives and less packaging waste.
Finally, take home a tube of the toothpaste you never knew you needed until now. Lovebyt blends premium botanical ingredients to cleanse, whiten and refresh your smile without chemicals. Created by Newport local Tash Scutts, it’s hard to look past the stunning packaging designed by Palm Beach artist Bruce Goold.
